Fascia Board Repair Behind Gutters in Port Hueneme Cbc Base, CA

Fascia Board Repair Behind Gutters in Port Hueneme Cbc Base, CA

The fascia is the board along the roof edge that the gutter screws into. When a gutter overflows for years, or water runs behind it because the drip edge is missing, that board soaks up water and rots. The result is gutters that will not stay attached no matter how many new hangers go in.

Soft fascia is easy to test. Push a screwdriver into the board just under the gutter. If it sinks in, the wood is gone.

Port Hueneme Cbc Base, CA Gutter Installation crews in Port Hueneme Cbc Base, CA take the gutter down, cut out the rotted fascia back to sound wood, and check the rafter tails behind it. Replacement boards are usually primed pine, cedar or a PVC trim board that will not rot. PVC costs more but holds a screw well and is the usual choice where overflow has been a long-running problem. Aluminum fascia wrap can go over the new board to match the trim.

The crew also checks the drip edge. Without it, water wicks behind the gutter and starts the rot again. A gutter apron or drip edge extension fixes that.

Once the fascia is solid, the gutter goes back up with hidden hangers, or new gutter installation follows if the old ones are not worth saving. Call (833) 941-1503 for fascia repair in Port Hueneme Cbc Base, CA.
